Vintage Lamplough Staghandled German Hunting KnifeOffered for your consideration is a sacrce stag-handled woodcraft style hunting knife from lamplough cutlery. Lamplough cutlery was a canadian importer that has long been gone from most folk's memories. Their knives are rarely seen and are always of excellent quality. Every knife i've ever seen frmo them was made in germany, but i'm not sure if they imported from other countries as well. I'm not sure who amde this example, but it's representative of fine german quality. This example has seen very little use and remains in excellent, original condition. It doesn't appear to have ever been cleaned, buffed, or polished. The super-thick carbon steel blade was beautifully made and is free of any corrosion or pitting. The grind was well executed and nicely exhibits the german quality and craftsmanship that made these knives so desirable. The only detraction at all is some very light marks near the tip that appear to be from a rotary tool. It's almost as though someone was going to sharpen it and then thought better of it. Ther is a very slight bend in the very tip, so maybe it was dropped and someone was smoothing the edge near the top?
I guess i'll never know for sure, but it is very minor. There are no grind marks or sharpening scratches and teh edges are free of any nicks or chips (except the very tip as mentioned). The knife shows no signs of being abused or harshly treated and the spine and pommel are both free of any dings or dents from pounding or hammering.
The stag handle is of outstanding quality. The thick stga slabs are pinned on both sides and completely tight.
All handle components are correctly aligned and tight. The stag was beautifulyl fitted and is free of any cracks or chips. hTe pommel is of aluminum alloy and is tight as well. The knife has a 4-3/8 blade and measures 8-1/2 in overall length. This is a classic, highly versatile style that makes an outstanding multi-purpose hunter or outdoors knife. Just in time for many hunting seasons! There si no sheath with this knife. A beautiful, well maed woodcraft style from an elusive firm!
