Unusual Vintage German Dagger Knife Gold LeafOffered for yoru consideration is an unusual vintage german dagger. This pieec has several unusual aspects to it. There are no indications as to who the makre may have been. It's simply marked solingen, germany. The knife was very wlel made and has never been used, carried, or sharpened. tI remains in excellent condition with just light storage wear. The thick carbon steel blade was beuatifully ground from 3/16 thick stock. The blade feature a pronounced median ridge and the tip is needle-sharp. It would almost seem to have been designed as a ladies dagger. The design provides a very refined look that's both sleek and very elegant. The handle is quite unique. When tapped, it almost sounds like some type of glass ro porcelain material, but i think it may be enamel over metal. There is also sometihng that rattles just a bit inside the handle when it's tipped back and forth.Like something small is sliding around inside the handle. The gold hsa the appearance of gold leaf, although i really don't know what it is. The guard and pommel are of brass, but the handle inlays are definitely not brass and have a strange refractive effect under light. I wouldn't be surprised at all fi it was indeed gold leaf. The entire dagger is solid and tight. Nothing is loose and there are no rattles or wiggles anywhere, except whatever shakes inside the handle itself. The dagger is very well balanced and has na excellent feel. The blade is 5-1/4 long, while the knife measures 9-1/8 overall. The scabbadr is the original and is of red leather with a metal tip. The top is marked germany. The scabbard is in excellent condition and slides tightly over the blade. An unusual vintage german dagger!
